Fr Anthony Nwankwo is one of four priests from the religious order the Society of Mary, Mother of Mercy, founded in Nigeria, working in the Diocese of East Anglia. Fr Anthony has been working in Cambridge since 2014 and was appointed to St Mary’s, Great Yarmouth and St Peter the Apostle, Gorleston in 2016 to work as assistant priest to Fr Philip. He is now the Priest in charge of St Mary’s Great Yarmouth and St Peter's Gorleston. He is also the Dean of the Deanery.
Fr Alvan Ibeh ,SMMM,
I am Fr. Alvan Ibeh SMMM, born 16th July 1982.
I was ordained a priest for the religious family of Sons of MARY Mother of MERCY on the 21st of July 2012 . My first assignment after ordination was to work as a Bursar and then as Vice Principal in one of our secondary schools from 2012 to 2015.
I came to England on the 12th of May 2015. I worked as an assistant priest in Our Lady and English Martyrs and St. Laurence's Parishes both in Cambridge from June to October 2015. I moved to Bury St. Edmund’s in Suffolk where I served as assistant priest, hospital and school chaplain.
I left Bury St. Edmund’s September 2018 to St. Mary’s Great Yarmouth where I am now working to date as Assisting Priest both at St. Mary’s and St. Peter’s and also a Trust Chaplain at the James Paget Hospital. It’s being a great blessing working for both Parishes and also the hospital.

Fr Desmond Agomuoh SMMM (Assistant Priest)
Fr. Nwabueze Desmond Agomuoh, SMMM is a Catholic priest and a dedicated servant of God
committed to preaching the Gospel and guiding souls to a deeper relationship with Christ.
Through his ministry, Fr Nwabueze encourages believers to live lives of devotion, discipline, and total
surrender to God. His ministry places a strong emphasis on prayer, spiritual renewal, Divine Mercy,
and the transformative power of God's Word.
Fr. Nwabueze Desmond Agomuoh, SMMM is a priest of the Congregation of the Sons of Mary
Mother of Mercy (SMMM), Umuahia, Nigeria, ordained on 20th July 2013. He came to the United
Kingdom on 7th March 2020 to serve in the Archdiocese of Glasgow, Scotland, where he worked as
the Parish Administrator of St Barnabas Parish, Shettleston, also covering St Mark’s Parish,
Edenwood Street. During this time, he served as an on-call Catholic Chaplain at Glasgow Royal
Infirmary and as a school chaplain.
Since 18th August 2023, he has been serving in the Diocese of East Anglia, England, as the Assistant
Parish Priest of St Mary’s RC Church, Great Yarmouth, and St Peter’s RC Church, Gorleston.
